Genlisea hispidula, is a perennial, terrestrial Corkscrew Plant with small, spatulate rosette leaves. In their habitat, they typically grow in nutrient poor, peaty wetlands or sandy seeps. In culture, they prefer sandy peat that is constantly moist, and occasional flooding. The small flowers appear in Spring, and are violet blue with a yellow tinge. They superficially resemble a Cephalotus trap. Each flower stalk produces a succession of 3 or more flowers. It can self pollinate and produce viable seed. This is one of the larger Genlisea and it flowers easily. A clump or portion of genlisea contains 1 or more plants when shipped.

Note: Genlisea are grown in a peat slurry and are likely to be growing in a natural harmless association with a terrestrial bladderwort.
